Abortion is Life Saving. Pregnancy is Dangerous.

In today’s New York Times, late abortion specialist Dr. Warren Hern of Boulder, Colorado, has a chilling analysis of the risks of childbirth vs. abortion, a woman’s only options if she is pregnant. Absent Mother Nature taking control and creating a miscarriage, a pregnant woman is either going to have to have the baby or get an abortion. There are no other alternatives now. There may only be one alternative in the future.

You can read the entire amazing piece here:

Pregnancy Kills. Abortion Saves Lives.

And I suggest strongly that you read it in its entirety because the premise could be game changing for the abortion debate.

Dr. Hern states the obvious to rational, thinking people:

Pregnancy is a life-threatening condition. Women die from being pregnant. We have known that for thousands of years.

He then goes on to elaborate on the many conditions of pregnancy that are inherently life-threatening to women and concludes that pregnancy in and of itself it life-threatening.

He then proceeds to quote statistics (aka “science”):

In Alabama, the overall maternal mortality ratio in 2018 was 11.9 per 100,000. Among white women, the 2018 maternal mortality ratio was 5.6; among black women, it was 27.6, making black women in Alabama almost five times more likely to die as a result of pregnancy than white women. For the United States overall, the maternal mortality ratio was 20.7.

Contrast that with the death rate (maternal mortality ratio) from early abortion at less than 0.3 per 100,000.

A fascinating conclusion you can draw is that PREGNANCY itself is a life threatening condition. So therefore, since abortion is a lot less risky than childbirth, ALL abortions are done to save the woman’s life (on some level or another).

Childbirth is especially dangerous for young women and black women. A pregnant woman who makes a calculated decision on her life chances, would choose ABORTION every time. NOTE:  The “woman’s” chance of living is paramount here. Anti-abortionists would make that secondary to their political objectives.
Dr. Hern then continues to question who makes these life and death decisions about pregnancy that aren’t really taught in medical school or even spelled out in the Alabama law or the Georgia “Heartbeat” bill. His conclusion is chilling.

Perhaps the vagueness of the law and the confusion is the point. Vagueness and confusion are tools of tyranny.

Dr. Hern is a courageous doctor and deserves our support. He is constantly under attack but continues to help women. You can give back by donating to his Security Fund at Crowdrise.
